An abrasion is a denuded area of skin (epidermis) resulting from a scrape on a hard or rough surface.  Abrasions can occur on any part of the body, but most often occur on bony areas, such as the hands, forearms, elbows, knees, shins and face.  Abrasions often result from falls or friction accidents.  This course provides basic information on the management and treatment of abrasions.

 

OBJECTIVES:

List the learner objectives in behavioral/measurable outcomes for evaluation.  After completing this activity, the learner will be able to…

·        Describe 2 signs and symptoms of children who present with abrasions in school.

·        Articulate management and treatment of abrasions.

·        State 2 possible complications of abrasions.

·       Explain lymphangitis and its relation to abrasions.
