Description
Managers make compliance decisions every day - who to hire, how to schedule, whose overtime to approve, and what to do when an employee raises a concern. The law often treats those decisions as the organization's own, which makes front-line managers and supervisors one of its most important lines of compliance.
This 60-minute, scenario-based course gives managers and supervisors the practical judgment to make those calls correctly. It covers harassment, discrimination and retaliation; wage and hour essentials including hours worked and overtime for non-exempt employees; and the leave, accommodation and workplace safety situations that must be escalated rather than decided alone. Throughout, learners practice one repeatable habit - the 4-Step Manager Response: Notice, Listen, Escalate, Document - so they have something to fall back on when a real situation arrives.
Five workplace scenarios put managers inside the situations that generate the most claims: a joke in the break room, a confidential complaint, a schedule change after a concern is raised, an off-the-clock request, and a leave request mentioned in passing. Each is followed by a decision activity with feedback, plus knowledge checks after every topic.
This course covers U.S. federal employment law and is intended for general education. It is not legal advice and does not replace an organization's own policies or any state or local mandatory training requirement.
