Human trafficking is a form of modern-day slavery that exploits people for forced labor or commercial sex. Under Florida law, as an apartment community employee, you have certain requirements that you and your workplace must adhere to regarding the awareness and prevention of human trafficking. In this course, we'll talk about what those rules are, including establishing and taking training, providing signage, and reporting suspected trafficking. We'll also discuss what you should look out for, as well as some key identifiers when it comes to human trafficking. *This course is in response to HB 851, section 509.096 of the Florida Statutes regarding human trafficking awareness and prevention.*
We'll discuss victims — where they're likely to originate from, why they're targeted, and how they are lured and enslaved. We'll also talk about what's being done to reduce human trafficking, how to recognize it, and what to do if you believe you're interacting with a victim.
