What you'll learn

Recognize different hazards found in a laboratory setting.
Identify routes of exposure for hazardous substances.
Recall laboratory hazard protection and control programs and procedures
Recall safe work practices for chemical, physical, and safety hazards in a laboratory setting.

Description

With more than 500,000 workers employed in laboratories across the United States, the lab environment presents a unique and complex set of occupational hazards that demand specialized safety training. Laboratory workers face daily exposure to chemical, biological, physical, and radioactive hazards, as well as musculoskeletal stresses associated with the precision work and sustained postures common in lab settings. Without proper training and precautions, these hazards can result in serious injury, illness, or worse. This course is designed to give laboratory employees the knowledge and practical skills needed to recognize workplace hazards, apply appropriate controls, and respond effectively when emergencies arise.

Learners will gain a thorough understanding of the Chemical Hygiene Plan and its role in protecting laboratory workers from chemical exposure. The course walks through each major category of laboratory hazard — chemical, biological, physical, and safety — providing clear guidance on routes of exposure, hazard recognition, and the protection and control programs employees must be familiar with in their work environment. Safe work practices specific to each hazard type are covered in depth, equipping employees to make sound safety decisions in real-world laboratory situations.

Upon completion, learners will be prepared to identify and mitigate laboratory hazards, follow established safety protocols, and contribute to a culture of safety that protects themselves and their colleagues.

Our Story: From Service Members to Service Providers

Evolve eLearning Solutions started in 2003 with a simple observation: compliance training didn’t have to be painful. Founded by veterans of the United States Marine Corps and Navy, we brought a service-first mentality to an industry that often felt like an afterthought.

In the military, training isn’t optional—it’s how you stay mission-ready. We saw organizations struggling with the same challenge: keeping teams trained, compliant, and confident without derailing daily operations. The solutions available were either overpriced, overcomplicated, or both.

So, we built something different. Training that respects people’s time. Support that actually solves problems. Pricing that makes sense for real budgets. No enterprise sales pitches, no feature bloat—just effective compliance training delivered by people who understand what it means to serve.

Two decades later, that approach hasn’t changed. We’ve grown from a handful of courses to a comprehensive library covering OSHA, HIPAA, HR/EEO, and more. But we’re still the same team that picks up the phone, remembers your name, and treats your compliance challenges like they matter—because they do.
