Description
This safety training course is designed to equip workers with the knowledge and skills necessary to identify, prevent, and respond to pinch point hazards in the workplace. Pinch points—areas where two objects move together or where a moving object closes in on a stationary surface—are among the most common sources of serious hand and limb injuries across all industries. This course draws on the requirements established by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) under the machine guarding standard and the control of hazardous energy standard to provide workers with a thorough understanding of their responsibilities and the safeguards available to them. Through this training, workers will develop the ability to recognize pinch point hazards in a wide range of workplace environments, understand and correctly apply layered prevention measures including machine guarding, lockout/tagout, safe work positioning, and personal protective equipment, and respond appropriately when a pinch point incident occurs. The course emphasizes that most pinch point injuries are entirely preventable when workers are attentive, properly trained, and committed to following established safety procedures. By completing this training, participants contribute directly to a safer workplace for themselves and their coworkers.
