Any performance review you've done in the past was likely conducted one-on-one, in an air-conditioned meeting room, with both people looking sharp and ready to go. It's harder to get these optimum conditions in a virtual workplace, but there's no reason why a remote performance review can't be just as productive as an in-person one.
