List the major components of HIPAA Privacy and Security rules;
Describe the rules about using and disclosing protected health information (PHI);
Describe how individual rights are protected under HIPAA;
Recall good security practices;
Describe breach notification; and
Recall the HIPAA penalty and enforcement provisions.

Description

This awareness-level refresher course is designed for healthcare employees who have previously completed foundational HIPAA training. It reinforces essential privacy and security obligations for frontline workers, supervisors, trainees, and volunteers at covered entities — including clinics, hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, group practices, health insurance companies, and healthcare clearinghouses.

 The course provides a practical review of the HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules, with a focus on the proper use and disclosure of protected health information (PHI). Students will also explore individual rights of access to PHI, organizational and personal security best practices, breach notification requirements, and HIPAA's enforcement and penalty provisions. Upon completion, learners will have a solid working knowledge of their responsibilities under HIPAA and the steps their organization must take to remain in compliance.

 This course has been updated to reflect the 2024 HHS Final Rule, which strengthens PHI protections related to reproductive health care. Following the Supreme Court's decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization — which overturned the constitutional precedent protecting abortion rights — the Department of Health and Human Services modified the Privacy Rule to limit the circumstances under which a patient's PHI related to reproductive health care may be used or disclosed for non-healthcare purposes. This update ensures your workforce understands their obligations under the current regulatory landscape and can appropriately safeguard sensitive patient information.

Our Story: From Service Members to Service Providers

Evolve eLearning Solutions started in 2003 with a simple observation: compliance training didn’t have to be painful. Founded by veterans of the United States Marine Corps and Navy, we brought a service-first mentality to an industry that often felt like an afterthought.

In the military, training isn’t optional—it’s how you stay mission-ready. We saw organizations struggling with the same challenge: keeping teams trained, compliant, and confident without derailing daily operations. The solutions available were either overpriced, overcomplicated, or both.

So, we built something different. Training that respects people’s time. Support that actually solves problems. Pricing that makes sense for real budgets. No enterprise sales pitches, no feature bloat—just effective compliance training delivered by people who understand what it means to serve.

Two decades later, that approach hasn’t changed. We’ve grown from a handful of courses to a comprehensive library covering OSHA, HIPAA, HR/EEO, and more. But we’re still the same team that picks up the phone, remembers your name, and treats your compliance challenges like they matter—because they do.
