_Leading a Team: 02. Team Building_ and the Tuckman Model According to the Tuckman Model, there are four stages to team development: forming, storming, norming, and performing. If a leader understands the stages, they can better guide the team along. Forming is the first stage, when team members are getting acquainted. The next stage is Storming and typically involves conflict and issues of power. Norming occurs when teammates settle into their roles and learn to work cohesively. The Performing stage happens when the team works together to accomplish their goals. Let's take an in-depth look at the four stages and focus on how you, the leader, can intervene and support.
