ANAPHYLAXIS
Anaphylaxis is a severe, potentially life-threatening allergic reaction. It may occur in adults or children not previously known to be allergic or hypersensitive. The reaction ranges from mild, self-limited symptoms to rapid death. Symptoms of a reaction can occur within seconds to minutes after exposure. This course will review signs, symptoms and treatment of this life threatening condition.

· Describe 3 signs and symptoms of children who present with anaphylaxis in school.
· Articulate management and treatment of anaphylaxis.
· Describe components of an emergency care plan for the student with severe allergy who may have anaphylaxis.
- Describe how epinephrine will be available to the student at all times (on person, in classroom (s)/cafeteria, when on bus or school sponsored event).
Locate if available, Standing Orders/or a physician directed nursing protocol for epinephrine from a school physician/physician and stock epinephrine in the health room
